Early voting begins Thursday for June 16 election

Voters can cast ballots through Saturday before next week’s primary elections and statewide vote on raising Oklahoma’s minimum wage.

OKLAHOMA CITY — Early voting for Oklahoma’s June 16 election begins Thursday, giving voters three days to cast ballots ahead of next week’s primary elections and statewide vote on State Question 832, which would raise Oklahoma’s minimum wage.

Early voting will be available Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at designated county election board locations across the state.

The June 16 election features party primary contests, State Question 832 and, in some areas, nonpartisan judicial races and local propositions.

Oklahoma conducts closed primary elections, meaning voters generally must be registered with a political party to participate in that party’s primary contests. However, all registered Oklahoma voters — including Independents — are eligible to vote on State Question 832. Independent voters may also vote in any nonpartisan races or local propositions appearing on their ballots.

State Election Board Secretary Paul Ziriax said voters participating in early voting or voting on Election Day may receive a limited-edition “I Voted” sticker commemorating America’s upcoming 250th anniversary while supplies last.

Voters must cast ballots in the county where they are registered. A list of early voting locations and election information is available through the Oklahoma State Election Board, and sample ballots can be viewed through the state’s OK Voter Portal.

Election Day is Tuesday, June 16.
