McKesson’s $179 million Moore distribution center to strengthen regional healthcare supply chain

Fortune 100 pharmaceutical distributor plans automated facility with more than 200 jobs, expanding its ability to serve Oklahoma, Texas and surrounding states.

MOORE — One of the nation’s largest pharmaceutical distributors is expanding its Oklahoma presence with a $179 million automated distribution center in Moore, a project expected to strengthen the healthcare supply chain serving Oklahoma, Texas and surrounding states while creating more than 200 jobs.

McKesson Corp., which distributes approximately one-third of all pharmaceuticals used in North America, announced it will build a 330,000-square-foot regional distribution center in the North Moore Industrial Park. The facility will replace an existing distribution center with a larger, more technologically advanced operation designed to improve the speed and reliability of delivering prescription drugs and medical products to hospitals, pharmacies and other healthcare providers.

The new facility will feature automated inventory systems, expanded cold-chain storage for temperature-sensitive medications and 100% standby power intended to keep operations running during severe weather or other disruptions. Company officials said the investment is aimed at improving the resilience of a healthcare supply chain that has faced growing demands in recent years.

“The healthcare supply chain grows more complex, from supporting advanced therapies with specialized handling and storage to navigating modernization, security and supply constraints,” Gene Cavacini, president of McKesson’s U.S. Pharmaceutical Distribution business, said in a statement. “Patients are counting on consistent, reliable access to critical therapies.”

According to the Oklahoma Department of Commerce, the Moore facility will distribute pharmaceuticals and medical products throughout a multistate region, expanding capacity within McKesson’s nationwide logistics network. The company selected Moore after evaluating competing locations across the central United States.

State and local officials also emphasized the project’s economic impact. The distribution center represents the first major industrial investment in the North Moore Industrial Park and is expected to create more than 200 direct jobs. An economic impact analysis commissioned by the Cleveland County Economic Development Coalition estimates the project will support approximately 633 direct, indirect and induced jobs annually once fully operational and contribute about $118 million annually to the regional economy.

Construction is expected to occur between 2026 and 2028. Financial terms of any state or local incentive packages associated with the project were not disclosed in the announcement.
