Court records show charge filed following investigation into disposal of department property.
MOORE — A Moore police sergeant has been charged with felony embezzlement after an internal investigation alleged she discarded approximately $1,700 in department property in an alley.
A felony charge filed Monday in Cleveland County District Court accuses Sgt. Maria Delgado of one count of embezzlement in connection with an alleged June 22 incident. Public court records show the case was filed July 20 as CF-2026-730, and a judge issued an arrest warrant with bond set at $2,500.
According to a probable cause affidavit described by Oklahoma City television stations KOCO and KFOR, surveillance video allegedly showed Delgado removing a large duffle bag from her husband’s vehicle before leaving it on a mattress in an alley. Investigators reportedly said the bag contained Moore Police Department property valued at approximately $1,700, along with Delgado’s personal belongings.
Both stations reported the department property included department-issued ammunition, although the affidavit itself is not publicly available through the court’s online records. As a result, Oklahoma Politics Today could not independently verify the complete inventory of the property described in the affidavit.
KOCO and KFOR also reported investigators said Delgado initially told a supervisor the bag had been donated to Goodwill several years earlier. However, after examining her cellphone, investigators allegedly found text messages indicating she admitted going to the alley where the bag was discarded.
According to KOCO, Delgado has been placed on administrative leave pending a separate internal investigation. The Moore Police Department told the station it conducted the investigation using its own resources and holds its officers to the highest standards of conduct but declined further comment in order to protect the integrity of the investigation.
Court records did not list an attorney representing Delgado as of Wednesday.
