Eligible Oklahomans have until the end of the month to register or update their registration before voting in statewide runoff races, legislative contests and local elections.
OKLAHOMA CITY — Oklahomans have until July 31 to register to vote or update their voter registration if they want to cast a ballot in the Aug. 25 runoff primary and special elections.
The deadline applies to new voter registrations as well as voters who have moved to a different county and need to update their registration before the election. Applications must be received by the appropriate county election board or postmarked no later than midnight on July 31. Applications submitted after the deadline will be processed after the Aug. 25 election.
Eligible applicants must be U.S. citizens, Oklahoma residents and at least 17½ years old to register, although voters must be 18 years old by Election Day to cast a ballot. Applications may be submitted online through the state’s voter registration portal by those with a current Oklahoma driver’s license or state-issued identification card, or by paper application through county election boards, tag agencies, post offices and many public libraries.
The Aug. 25 election features statewide Republican runoff elections, including the party’s gubernatorial nomination, along with legislative runoffs, local races, special elections and two statewide ballot measures.
Voters who have moved within the same county can update their address through the state’s online voter portal or by submitting a new voter registration application. Election officials recommend voters who submit a registration application watch for a confirmation letter and voter identification card by mail. Anyone who does not receive a response within 30 days should contact their county election board.
According to the Oklahoma State Election Board, polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Aug. 25. Additional information, including voter registration, absentee voting and polling place lookup tools, is available through the state election board’s website.
