Nearly nine of every $10 received by Mazzei’s campaign has come from candidate loans, while most of Drummond’s campaign money has come from donors and other outside sources.
OKLAHOMA CITY — Mike Mazzei’s campaign for governor has received about $13.13 million through Monday night. Nearly $11.61 million of it came from Mazzei himself.
For Attorney General Gentner Drummond, the financial picture is almost the reverse.
Drummond’s campaign has reported receiving about $9.46 million. About $6.46 million came from donors and other outside sources, while Drummond supplied $3 million through candidate loans.
The figures reflect campaign finance reports filed with the Oklahoma Ethics Commission through Monday night. More late contributions can still be reported before Election Day.
Outside money picks up for Mazzei
Mazzei remains overwhelmingly the biggest source of money for his own campaign, but outside fundraising has picked up since the June primary.
Before the primary, candidate loans accounted for 94.6% of the money received by his campaign. Despite the additional contributions since then, Mazzei has still supplied about 88% of his campaign’s money overall.
That means about $1.53 million of the $13.13 million reported by Mazzei’s campaign has come from sources other than Mazzei.
Drummond relies more on contributors
Drummond has also put millions of his own dollars into the race, but contributors have provided most of the money financing his campaign.
Of the roughly $9.46 million his campaign has reported, $3 million came from Drummond. About $6.46 million came from other sources.
After millions of dollars raised and millions more supplied by the candidates themselves, the basic difference between the two campaigns is clear.
More than six of every $10 financing Drummond’s campaign has come from other people and organizations. Only about one of every $10 financing Mazzei’s campaign has come from outside sources.
