The former Senate District 38 candidate was found dead April 30 after being reported missing.
OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has ruled the death of former state Senate candidate Barry Christian a suicide.
A summary report made the finding public Tuesday.
Christian, 54, was found dead in his pickup at the Sandy Sanders Wildlife Management Area south of Erick. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation became involved after he was reported missing April 29.
A Sayre drilling consultant, Christian was one of three Republicans seeking the open Senate District 38 seat. Because his death occurred after the candidate filing period, his name remained on the June 16 primary ballot. He received 530 votes, or 6.5% of the total.
