General Fund investments produced $38.2 million in July, about $4 million more than projected for the first month of the fiscal year.
OKLAHOMA CITY — Oklahoma began the new fiscal year with investment earnings running nearly 12% ahead of projections.
The State Treasurer’s July investment report shows General Fund investments earned $38.2 million during the month, compared with an estimate of about $34.2 million. That put earnings about $4 million, or 11.8%, above projections.
State Treasurer Todd Russ said the office is focused on keeping the state’s investments stable while earning competitive returns.
“Our balanced and disciplined investment strategy continues to provide stability while positioning the state to earn competitive returns,” Russ said.
The amount available for General Fund investment also was higher than projected. The Treasurer’s Office reported an investable base of about $12.38 billion, compared with the $12 billion used in the estimate.
U.S. Treasury securities — debt issued by the federal government — produced most of July’s General Fund investment earnings. They generated about $30.8 million, roughly $3.8 million more than projected and 14% above the estimate for that category.
The Treasurer’s Office has revised its estimate of General Fund investment earnings for the full 2027 fiscal year to $410 million.
The broader July report also includes money managed for state agencies and federal American Rescue Plan funds. Those accounts are separate from the General Fund figures used in the earnings comparison.
