The 12 Task Force 1 members are taking boats and equipment for a deployment expected to last up to six days.
OKLAHOMA CITY — Twelve Oklahoma rescue workers left Sunday morning for New Mexico to help with flood response, according to the governor’s office.
The Task Force 1 members, from the Tulsa and Oklahoma City areas, make up two swift-water rescue teams. They are taking boats, trailers and other equipment after the New Mexico Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management requested help through a state-to-state emergency aid compact.
The teams will be staged in Santa Fe. Their deployment is expected to last up to six days, depending on flood conditions, the governor’s office said.
“These Task Force 1 teams have the training, experience and equipment to help communities respond when they need it most,” Gov. Kevin Stitt said in the announcement.
The Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management said it is monitoring requests for additional help.
