The Republican nominee’s campaign says his OETA debate with Cyndi Munson will be recorded earlier that day.
OKLAHOMA CITY — President Donald Trump is scheduled to hold a campaign rally in Durant on Thursday, Oct. 1, and Republican gubernatorial nominee Mike Mazzei plans to join him.
Doors open at 2 p.m. for the rally at the Choctaw Event Center, and the program is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. The event listing allows up to four tickets per registration.
The timing raised a question about Mazzei’s plans to debate Democratic nominee Cyndi Munson on OETA that evening. Mazzei’s campaign said Friday that OETA had agreed to record the debate earlier Thursday. The campaign said it would air Oct. 1 and again Oct. 3 but did not specify broadcast times.
Mazzei thanked OETA and the debate organizers for accommodating the presidential visit.
As OK Politics Today previously reported, Mazzei has said the OETA event will be his only general-election debate. Munson remains open to others.
Trump endorsed Mazzei during the Republican race for governor. The two are now set to appear together just over a month before the Nov. 3 election.
