The White House also withdrew John Grunewald II’s nomination to the Farm Credit Administration Board.
WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump has withdrawn former Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper Lance Schroyer’s nomination to lead U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement less than three months after announcing his selection.
A White House notice posted Thursday listed Richard Schroyer — who goes by Lance — and fellow Oklahoman John Grunewald II among five nominations withdrawn from the Senate. The notice gave no reason for either decision.
Trump announced Schroyer’s selection in late June and formally sent the nomination to the Senate on July 20.
Oklahoma Politics Today previously reported that Mullin recommended Schroyer after Tulsa County Sheriff Vic Regalado, Mullin’s initial choice, failed to win White House support.
Schroyer, a Marine veteran, was serving as a senior adviser to Mullin at the Department of Homeland Security when he was nominated. He previously worked on Mullin’s security detail when Mullin represented Oklahoma in the U.S. Senate.
Grunewald was nominated June 23 to serve on the Farm Credit Administration Board for a term ending Oct. 13, 2030. He retired in 2023 after 43 years in the Farm Credit System, including 31 years as president and CEO of Farm Credit of Western Oklahoma.
