Two federally funded projects make fiber internet available to more than 100 homes and businesses in Wagoner County.
OKLAHOMA CITY — Fiber-optic internet is now available to more than 100 homes and businesses in and around Okay and Porter after Lake Region Technology & Communications completed two projects, the Oklahoma Broadband Office announced Thursday.
Lake Region received approximately $756,000 through the American Rescue Plan Act’s Capital Projects Fund to expand service in the Wagoner County communities.
“These projects represent another important step in expanding reliable broadband access to communities across Oklahoma,” said Mike Sanders, the office’s executive director. “We appreciate Lake Region’s partnership and their work to connect over one hundred homes and businesses in Wagoner County.”
Residents and business owners can enter their address in the state’s Internet Availability Map to see which providers serve their location.
The Legislature created the Broadband Office in 2022 with a goal of ensuring at least 95% of Oklahomans have access to high-speed internet.
The two Lake Region projects were among those awarded Capital Projects Fund money in 2024.
