Tulsa firefighters PAC backs Shannon in closing stretch of GOP lieutenant governor race

OKLAHOMA CITY — A political action committee representing Tulsa firefighters is backing T.W. Shannon in the Republican primary for lieutenant governor, delivering a late endorsement as the June 16 election approaches.

Tulsa FirePAC announced its support Thursday, citing Shannon’s record backing first responders in both public office and the private sector.

“I’m honored to have the support of Tulsa firefighters,” Shannon said in a statement. “These men and women put their lives on the line every day to protect Oklahoma families.”

Shannon, a former Oklahoma House speaker who served in President Donald Trump’s administration as a senior adviser at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, has campaigned as a staunch Trump ally while emphasizing support for law enforcement, firefighters, and other first responders.

He has also secured Trump’s endorsement in the race, a potentially decisive boost in a Republican primary where candidates are competing for conservative and pro-Trump voters.

Tulsa FirePAC President Matt Lay said the endorsement reflects Shannon’s consistent alignment with firefighter priorities.

The nod comes in the final weeks of a competitive Republican primary to succeed term-limited Lt. Gov. Matt Pinnell, as candidates make a closing push for turnout and late-deciding voters.

In a race where contenders largely share similar conservative positions, high-profile endorsements — particularly from figures like Trump and public safety groups — can help campaigns consolidate key voting blocs in the final stretch.

The endorsement adds to Shannon’s growing list of support from public safety and conservative allies as the campaign enters its closing phase.
